Five Codes

There are five codes which all practitioners of Tang Soo Do should learn and follow.

These codes originate from the Buddhist monk, teacher and scholar Won Kwang who lived around 600AD in the Silla kingdom of Korea.

The five rules basically worked as a moral compass for everyday Buddhists to live by. They blended Buddhist teachings with a strong sense of national pride, which was a defining feature of Silla Buddhism.

You can read more about him here: Wikipedia entry on Won Kwang.
